I'm PUPO
Today was transfer day. It was quite a long day. We started off this morning getting acupuncture. From there we went to embryo transfer. Our RE said that we had 5 top grade blasts. After much deliberation, we decided on transferring one into R and 2 into me. We are thrilled that we should have 2 to freeze and there are some more that they are going to let grow for one more day. After the transfer, we went back to acupuncture for another session. Finally we came back home to start our 2 1/2 days of bed rest. I'm sorry this blog is boring. Laying in bed all evening after a long day (with some Valium on board) isn't making for a very witty post. Perhaps I'll be more inspired tomorrow.

Moving on to blasts!!!
This morning was total agony. We were told that they would call around 9 to 9:30am to let us know how our embies were doing. Depending on how many were still going strong, they would decide on a 3 vs 5 day transfer. I have been a wreck since yesterday. I hated not hearing anything about our embryos yesterday. I understand that they should be disturbed as little as possible but still, I hate not knowing. It is especially important since both R and I will undergo transfer and be on bed rest. There's a lot of planning. Even for transfer, we have to arrange rides to the acupuncturist, then to embryo transfer, then back to the acupuncturist and then back home.
Well today, after being a bundle of nerves, they finally called us at 10:30. Luckily the embryos look great! We have 10-12 that they said were at 8 cells (perfect for day 3) and the rest were still doing well, mostly around 6 cells. So we were moved to Friday for a 5 day transfer!!! I'm so excited. Besides feeling like I suddenly have an extra 2 days to do some last minute holiday shopping, it means we will transfer blasts!!! I never thought we would make it to blasts!!! This might even mean we'll have some to freeze. It also means 2 days less of the 2 week wait.

The Day Is Almost Over
The day is almost over... yes today is THE day, my due date from my first miscarriage. And you know what? Today my water did not break. Last night, I slept comfortably on my stomach and my back. Tomorrow I may have embryos put into my uterus. I certainly did not have a baby come out of me today. Instead that happened on mother's day weekend.
I am actually doing surprisingly well. I have thought more of the embryos that will be put in me than the baby that should have come out of me. The anxiety is killing me. We will be called tomorrow morning and told either to come in at lunch for a day 3 transfer or to wait until Friday. We're hoping for Friday. In the mean time, our life is on hold.

So far, so good
So the big update: Out of our 27 eggs, 20 were mature and 17 fertilized normally!!! We are very excited. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I heard the news!!! Last time we only had 6 mature and 5 that fertilized normally. We will hear from them on Wednesday regarding if it will be a 3 or 5 day transfer.
So now we continue playing the numbers game with regards to how many to put back in. I really appreciate the responses that I've gotten from you guys. Just to clarify, last time we did put in 3 - 3 perfect day 3 8-celled embies. And we got nothing.
I think we're leaning to the 2 in me, 1 in R plan. I would even consider 1 blast in each, although R keeps reminding me that what we start off with, isn't always what you end up with (m/c, vanishing twins...).
When I got pregnant earlier this year, I had 4 follies the month I got pregnant. We were so afraid of multiples. We were quite relieved when we saw only 1 on u/s. After my m/c, I would have given anything to have been pregnant with multiples. I still would have had a baby. BTW - my due date is tomorrow. I should be having my baby tomorrow, instead, I will be obsessing about how many embryos to put in.

Egg retrieval - success!!!
Just a quick post to update about egg retrieval. Things went great this morning and we got 27 eggs! I can't tell you how excited I am. It's going to work this time!!! I will be pregnant in 2 weeks. We're hoping for a 5 day blast transfer. I think it that case we'll do 2 in me and 1 in R. If we do a 3 day transfer, then we'll have to decide between the 2 and 1 plan and 2 in each of us. Thank you to those of you that replied to my post from yesterday. I also think that we're going to do assisted hatching - anything to up our chances.
